How to get there ● Complimentary transfer from/to selected Hervey Bay pick up locations included. Located approximately 300km north of Brisbane, takes about 3 hours 40 minutes; approximately 380km north of Gold Coast, takes about 4 hours 30 minutes; approximately 13km south of Hervey Bay Airport, takes about 15 minutes.

● By Public Transport
Unfortunately there is no direct public transport available. Most visitors drive or arrive on a coach tour. If you do not drive, please book one of the day tours that include Hervey Bay Airport transfers.
Check-in requirements Please ensure you arrive at the meeting point /departure point 30 minutes before your scheduled departure time to allow enough time to check in. Regrettably, failure to arrive before this time will most likely be classified as no-show and result in forfeiting the booking and it cannot be refunded or transferred.

If you are not familiar with the area or travelling on a weekend or local public holidays / school holidays, please make sure you've checked your timetable or driving route beforehand, and allow extra travelling time for unexpected delays to ensure you do not miss your check in

Porterage, Luggage Handling & Weght Policy:
● Due to Australian Workplace Health & Safety requirements, the maximum acceptable weight for any single piece of luggage is 25 kgs.
● Bags weighing 20+ kgs will be tagged with a fluoro tag to indicate heavy luggage and that care must be taken when handling.
● Where guests are required to pack down luggage over 25 kgs, bags are available for sale from the Mainland Terminal.
● Each guest may check-in free of charge two (2) items of luggage each piece weighing no more than 25 kgs.
● Additional items to be checked-in will incur a handling fee.

    Getting Here
    • Fly via major capital cities to Hervey Bay airport (QANTAS + Virgin Australia operate flights daily).
    • Pick-up from selected Hervey Bay accommodation (between 14:00 to 15:00) or make your own way to the Ticket Hut in River Heads for check-in by no later than 15:00.
    • The cruise to Fraser Island takes approximately 45 minutes across the Great Sandy Strait.

     

    Island Arrival
    • Friendly Cool Dingo tour guide will greet you off the ferry, before join the group for the ultimate sunset experience along the western beach!
    • Start tour off the Fraser Island way, with a complimentary welcome drink^ at The Sunset Bar and bask in that golden glow.
    • Then it's time to check into the Kingfisher Bay Resort^^ and enjoy dinner at leisure at one of the three resort restaurants (at own expense).
      (Whilst The Sunset Bar, your luggage will have been delivered to your room).

    • Maheno Shipwreck - enjoy a photo stop at the rusting wreck of the Maheno washed ashore during an out-of-season cyclone in 1935 - it's one of Fraser Island's most recognisable sites.
    • The Pinnacles Coloured Sands - learn how these technicolour sand formations were created and the Butchulla legends surrounding them.
    • Champagne Pools - Chill out in these aptly-named, bubbling rock pools, it's the number 1 swimming spot along the east coast!
    • Indian Head - Ascend to the top of this rocky headland, for 360° views of Fraser, and keep a look out for sharks, rays, turtles and whales (July-October).
    • Eli Creek - float down this fast-flowing freshwater creek pouring out 80 megalitres of water daily into the ocean.

    Highlights
    • Lake McKenzie - Paradise found! With pristine white sands and crystal-clear, turquoise hues, it's picture perfect!
    • Central Station / Wanggoolba Creek- this former logging station that housed schools and shops for the bustling timber industry is now a tourist stop. Stroll along the Wanggoolba Creek boardwalk to discover the ancient King Ferns, towering Ghost Gums and Pine trees.
    • Lake Wabby / Hammerstone Sandblow - Trek across the golden, desert-like sands and arrive at the hidden gem of Lake Wabby, an absolute emerald oasis.
    • The tour will return to Kingfisher Bay Resort in the late afternoon, in time for departure on the 5pm ferry back to River Heads (Courtesy drop-offs in Hervey Bay).
