- The 2 levels are joined by a staircase with 47 steps. The Park offer a courtesy vehicle (down a service road), for guests to be able to utilise, if they cannot use the staircase.
- Guests would need to be able to get in and out of a 4WD vehicle to make use of the courtesy vehicle.

● Bringing prams, strollers and carriers to Paronella Park
The pathways at Paronella Park are predominantly concrete and gravel. We suggest that people visiting with babies or small children, bring a carrier.
If you don't have a carrier, and wish to bring a stroller or pram:
- Some strollers/prams are suitable on the pathways.
- Large wheeled prams/strollers are easier to push around.
Prams/strollers with small wheels often get stuck in the gravel on some of the pathways.
There had a few guests who have brought small wheeled strollers throughout the park, and they've been able to navigate through, however there are some areas that are quite tough.
Alongside the pathways, are small sets of steps throughout the park, so you may need to carry the stroller/pram up and down the smaller steps (vehicle lift available to avoid the Grand Staircase).
If you have any questions regarding bringing a pram/stroller/carrier to Paronella Park, you can phone (07) 4065 0000.

2 Overview

The Mamu Rainforest Canopy Walkway is a spectacular walk through the canopy of World Heritage rainforest. It is an iconic tourist attraction in the heart of the Wet Tropics. With a 350 metre long elevated walkway through the canopy, a cantilever, a 37 metre observation tower and more than 1200 metres of walking tracks, this attraction is a must do for anyone visiting the region.

Visitors to Paronella Park are immediately struck by the immense natural beauty of the Park. The five hectares of land features two cascading waterfalls, exotic rainforest plants and majestic trees of the forest. Guests can explore the enchanting grounds through a series of winding paths and bridges that snake through the forest and Castle ruins. Paronella Park has a distinct architectural design and layout, and the undulating paths and bridges are organized in a 'five ways' design. The paths that wind through Paronella Park have been designed in such a way to provide unusual and somewhat secretive vistas of Mena Creek Falls. At regular intervals guests can gaze through the dense tropical foliage and glimpse the glittering cascading waters of the falls.

Two Parks Pass: Paronella Park and Mamu Tropical Skywalk

Mamu Rainforest Canopy Walkway

Take a walk in the clouds in Wooroonoon National Park just 15 minutes out of Innisfail. Elevated walkways, a cantilever, and observation tower offer visitors the exhilarating experience of being high in the rainforest canopy, along with providing spectacular panoramic views of World Heritage rainforest landscapes.

The Mamu Skywalk allows visitors to explore the rainforest from the forest floor to the canopy, in comfort and safety. The Skywalk passes through one of the largest-remaining continuous stands of complex vine forest on basalt soils in the Wet Tropics. Enjoy close-up views of rainforest plants, insects and birds, and take in sweeping vistas. Information signs tell of the rainforest's complex web of life and the rich culture and history of the area.

The walkway features:

  • An elevated walkway, 350m long, rising from ground level to 15m above the ground, meandering through the canopy of lush tropical rainforest.
  • A 10m long cantilever and a 37m high observation tower with two viewing decks, providing spectacular views over the North Johnstone River gorge and surrounding rainforest-clad peaks.
  • More than 1100m of forest walking tracks, connecting the elevated walkway, cantilever a tower rest shelter presenting information about the history and heritage of Mamu rainforest.

Climate and weather

The best time to visit Tropical North Queensland is during the cooler part of the year - from April to October. Please note that high daytime temperatures and humidity are possible at any time of the year and nights can be very cool. August to September is generally the driest period, but heavy rain can fall at any time - this area averages more than 4m of rain each year. Carry clothing suitable for all weather. Wet or dry, the Skywalk offers a delightful rainforest experience. Biodegradable plastic ponchos can be purchased on site for a small fee. In the interest of public safety the skywalk will close during severe weather conditions. Please check park alerts or contact Mamu Tropical Skywalk to confirm closures.
