Great Barrier Reef Full Day Tour by Great Adventure Cruise Depart from Cairns Reef Fleet Terminal

The Great Barrier Reef is not one continuous reef, but made up of over 2900 reefs and 900 islands. It is the largest reef structure and marine park in the world. So large in fact that it is visible from the moon!

The Great Barrier Reef first began to grow about 18 million years ago. Since this time, various geological events such as Ice Ages and low seawater levels have interrupted reef growth. The reefs we see today have grown on top of older reef platforms during the last 8000 years.

Great Barrier Reef Snorkelling

Snorkelling is a great way to explore the reef and see the marine life situated around the Great Adventures activity platform. Snorkel, mask, fins and flotation devices are included with your tour. Our crew will help fit you with the gear, give tips to first time snorkelers and our safety officers (lifeguard) patrol the snorkel area to make sure everyone is staying safe.

Semi-Submarine

Explore the vibrant reef from the comfort of the air-conditioned semi-submersible coral viewing tour with informative commentary. Our friendly crew are ready to share their knowledge and passion for the Great Barrier Reef with you. As the spacious semi-sub with wide viewing windows meanders slowly through beautiful coral gardens, you’ll experience the remarkable life below the surface.

The semi-sub tour takes approximately 25 minutes and departs every 30 minutes, or as announced, from the rear of the platform.

Underwater Observatory

From the underwater observatory you will be able to view corals, giant clams and be mesmerised by a myriad of colourful fish and marine life before your eyes. Here you can explore at your own pace or join the Eco Reef talk with the Marine Naturalist. Be sure to check out the extensive interpretive posters in the underwater observatory too. You’ll be identifying Nemos and parrotfish in no time!
