How to get there ● By Car
-Taronga Western Plains Zoo Dubbo is a 5-6 hour drive from Sydney, Canberra and Newcastle.
-Parking is located directly outside the Bilabong Camp compound.

-Please check the Transport NSW timetables (https://transportnsw.info/) for more details to plan your trip.
-NSW TrainLink offers a range of regular coach and train services from regional NSW to Dubbo. Travel to Dubbo from Lightening Ridge, Bourke, Parkes, Orange and Bathurst.
-NSW TrainLink's daily return service from Central Station arrives in Dubbo.
What to bring/wear ● Small overnight bag with personal towel & toiletries. No toothbrush, toothpaste, or slippers provided
● Appropriate clothing for all weather conditions, eg. jacket for cooler months.

● Your stay at Bllabong Camp includes two day admission to Taronga Western Plains Zoo, so you can arrive anytime from 09:00 on the day of your stay and explore the Zoo prior to meeting your host at Billabong Camp.

2 Overview

Situated on the Zoo circuit, near Lion Pride Lands, lies Billabong Camp – an overnight adventure sure to please every member of the family! Camp under the stars and in close proximity to the all-new Lion Pride Lands! Hear the roar of the Lions at night and experience camping in the permanent tents located around a beautiful billabong.

    Billabong Camp is an immersive experience where we take care of the hard work for you. All you need to do is sit back, relax and enjoy. You'll uncover the secret, after hours life of the Zoo with the help of your Zoo Host. You'll also enjoy a tasty Australian barbecue dinner, continental breakfast and two day entry to the Zoo.

     

    What are the tents like?
    • Tents are 3m x 3m, made from heavy duty canvas witha solid floor and can sleep up to three people (two stretcher beds with mattresses and one sleeping mat, all with linen provided)
    • Groups of four will be allocated a campsite. A campsite has two tents adjacent to each other. Please let us know your preferred sleeping configuration at the time of booking.
    • Groups of four or more will be allocated campsites/tents based on sleeping requirements (this will be confirmed at the time of booking).

    Time Itinerary
    Day 1  
    09:00 Arrive at Taronga Western Plains Zoo and check in at the Savannah Visitor Plaza. Grab a map and schedule of your free daily Keeper Activities, and start exploring the Zoo.
    15:30 - 17:00 Make your way to Bilabong Camp. Meet your host at the Billabong Camp site, where you will be welcomed and given time to settle into your tent.
    17:00 Relax by the billabong with drinks and nibbles.
    18:45 Feast on an outback BBQ buffet dinner, to fuel up before your night walk.
    20:00 Grab your cameras, jumpers and water bottles before heading to the Aussie Walkthrough. Immerse yourself in the Australian bush whilst you search for native animals by spotlight.
    20:45 Enjoy supper under the stunning night sky.
    22:00 Turn out the lights and retire for the evening.

    06:15 - 07:00 Start the day with a flling continental breakfast.
    07:00 Time to pack up your tents and get ready for a morning walk!
    07:30 The moming walk will take you out into the Zoo to see some of the remarkable Asian wildlife, which could include Oriental Small-clawed Otters or Sumatran Tigers. You may also witness the amazing vocal gymnastics of the Siamang Apes and you might even see the beautiful White-handed Gibbon.
    08:45 (approx.) Arrive back at Bilabong Camp.
    09:00 Check out and explore the Zoo at your leisure.

● If you cancel at least 37 day(s) in advance of the scheduled departure, there is no cancellation fee. ● If you cancel between 0 and 36 day(s) in advance of the scheduled departure, there is a 100 percent cancellation fee. ● If no show, no refund.
