Moreton Island

Moreton Island is the third largest sand island in the world and located only 40 kilometres north-east of Brisbane. The Island consists entirely of sand, apart from a small area of sandstone and rhyolite at Cape Moreton, which has built up over the past 400,000 years. It is also home to the highest coastal sand dune in the world, Mount Tempest, which at 285 metres provides 360 degrees of breath-taking views. Moreton Island is one of the least polluted and least disturbed coastal environments along the Queensland/New South Wales coast.

Tangalooma Resort

Tangalooma is the Gateway to Moreton Island. Just a 75 minute ferry trip from Brisbane, Tangalooma Island Resort provides Brisbane's closest access to the beautiful Moreton Island, home to amazing natural flora and fauna. The resort is the perfect family holiday destination for guests seeking a unique adventure, relaxing stay or educational and nature based experience - all this right on Brisbane's doorstep! Protected and treasured, this is nature's theme park where amazing natural encounters are just part of the everyday experience. A great getaway for families and couples, built for fun and famous for wild dolphins. Everything is at your door.

About Tangalooma's Dolphins

The untouched national and marine parks of Moreton Bay make Tangalooma one of the few destinations in the world where visitors can interact with native wildlife in their natural environment.

The island welcomes whales, dugongs, stingrays, countless sea birds and turtles but undoubtedly the favourite regulars are the family of wild bottlenose dolphins who visit our shores each evening to be hand-fed by resort guests. Since stealing the heart of resort owner Betty Osborne over 20 years ago, the dolphin family have become a key part of the Tangalooma Story. Experience their beauty for yourself as part of the evening dolphin feeding program. This memory will last a lifetime!

We embrace environmental protection and encourage guests to visit our Tangalooma Marine Education & Conservation Centre to learn more about these beautiful creatures and the work that we do.

Marine Discovery Cruise

Go in search for dolphines, dugongs, turtles and more. Journey along the coastline in search of dolphins, dugongs, green sea turtles, sea cucumbers, rays and more! Our purpose built catamaran provides unobstructed views of Moreton Bay's intriguing marine life.  With full Eco commentary provided to explain the habitats and behaviours of our local marine creatures.
