Other info ● Return Voucher Policy
Whale watching tours are the same as any other wildlife tour: they require a little bit of luck and a bit of patience. Unfortunately, very rarely, there are some cruises that do not see whales; for this reason the Service Provider offers a free trip in the form of a return voucher.

Return vouchers are issued in the event that little to no whale activity was encountered on a cruise. The voucher allows the customer to come back free of charge and have another chance at spotting whales.

Return vouchers are issued at the discretion of the crew on the day of the cruise. If the captain decides that the activity spotted on the day was satisfactory, no return voucher will be issued.

If a return voucher has been issued the Service Provider does not offer a refund on the cruise. The Service Provider does not refund return vouchers under any circumstance. The Service Provider only issues a refund if the Service Provider has had to cancel the cruise due to inclement weather, poor sea/wind conditions or vessel malfunction.

Return vouchers cannot be resold or reissued. To ensure that all customers have a successful whale watching experience it is important that the Service Provider has their contact details for issue of cruise notifications/updates etc prior to travel. Return vouchers therefore cannot be sold-on to a different party or reissued under a different name.

Return vouchers can be extended at the discretion of the Service Provider and their booking staff. The Service Provider is able to extend the expiry date of a voucher if the customer is unable to use them within the time specified.

Use of a return voucher on the cruise is subject to availability. Because there is extremely limited seating, we put customers holding return vouchers for the cruise on standby; this means that they are not able to reserve a seat and can only join the cruise if it is not fully booked 10 minutes prior to departure.

2 Overview

Whale watching time is maximized with this cruise as it only takes 15 minutes from Circular Quay to the open ocean. You get the same amount of whale watching time as other 4 hour cruises, as this tour does not spend 2 hours inside the harbour just to get to the whales and back!

This is the longest cruise onboard Sydney's best whale watching boat equipped with state of the art technology, comfortable indoor/outdoor seating located fore and aft and multi level viewing on 3 decks. It is the best way to maximise your time viewing and experiencing whales in their natural habitat. Informative, expert commentary provided by our marine naturalist.

Sydney Whale Watching 3hr Discovery Cruise Depart From Circular Quay

Before boarding the crew will inform you of the sea conditions expected for your cruise and give you an update on sightings from earlier cruises to give you an indication what can be expected on your cruise.

After leaving the wharf, this tour wastes little time in the harbour thanks to the state of the art, high speed vessel Ocean Dreaming 2 and spend most of the 3hr cruise watching whales.

Once offshore try to locate the best whales to watch, which may already know about before leaving the harbour thanks to shore based spotters and communication with other whale watching vessels. The cruise always endeavour to find the most active and entertaining whales for you and may change pods during the cruise, should more active whales be spotted elsewhere.

The vessel offers you plenty of viewing space thanks to the custom built whale watching vessel, featuring 360 degree viewing across 3 levels of outside decks and 2 large air conditioned indoor cabins.

Try to capture all the action taking pictures yourself or leave all the hard work to the professional photographer who will offer a USB stick for purchase at the end of the cruise (optional extra at own expense).

Throughout the whole cruise the friendly and experienced crew will guide you through your time, provide you with commentary and answer any questions you may have.

Once the time with the whales has come to an end,  it is a fast and comfortable ride back along the magnificent coastline to enter Sydney Harbour just as Captain Arthur Phillip did in 1788.

Complementary tea, coffee, water and biscuits are available at the bar throughout the cruise.

Vessel Features
  • Three levels of outside viewing decks, perfect for whale watching.
  • High speed vessel for minimal travel time to the whales.
  • Comfortable cushioned seats.
  • Climate controlled cabin.
  • Multimedia presentations on screens around the boat.
  • Wheelchair accessible
  • Toilets on board (1 disabled)
