How to get there By Public Transport -
The QR Citytrain has a seven-day service that operates between the Gold Coast, Brisbane and Beerwah. The Australia Zoo courtesy coach meets most trains at the Beerwah Rail Station to transfer passengers to the Zoo. If the bus is not at the station, simply call the Zoo and a bus will be sent out during opening hours for your convenience.

By car -
The Sunshine Coast is easily accessible by a number of major highways which dissect the region. It is approximately 60 minutes driving time from Brisbane via the Bruce Highway. Australia Zoo is situated on Steve Irwin Way, Beerwah. Free parking available.

2 Overview

Australia Zoo, 1 hour north of Brisbane on the Sunshine Coast, was made famous by the Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin. The 105 acre zoo is the most interactive conservation destination on the planet, where you can get up close to animals, including koalas, wombats and kangaroos! Check out giraffes, rhinos, zebras, cheetahs and the new meerkats at the African Savannah, and majestic tigers and red pandas in South-East Asia.  See free-roaming ring-tailed lemurs, giant Aldabra tortoises, colourful macaws and more on Bindi's Island! Watch a saltwater crocodile strike from the water's edge in the daily Wildlife Warriors show, and explore the world's busiest Wildlife Hospital, where you can watch vets saving endangered Australian animals.

Hear all about the wild adventures of Bindi Irwin! Australia Zoo's story time session will allow little ones to see some amazing pictures of her life so far, and to hear exciting tales about the places she has visited and the wildlife she has encountered. It's sure to inspire children and adults alike!

10:00 Tortoises LIVE

Join one of the zoo keepers to kick off your day at Australia Zoo, by watching the special tortoise demonstration! Gather around Igloo and Goliath's lawn at 10:00am to watch these friendly brothers get fed their favourite food - fruit and veggies. You'll learn a lot from the presenting zoo keeper, including where Aldabra tortoises originated from, how much they eat, and much more about the species.

10:30 Morning Otters LIVE

See the cheekiest otters at the zoo come out and play! The Asian small-clawed otters, Daisy & Percival love their food and the keepers that bring it to them. Their aquatic home allows you to enjoy a clear view of these playful creatures enjoying an interactive session, while you learn about what makes them so unique.

11:15 Tiger Keeper Talk

Discover fun facts about tigers at the Tiger Keeper Talk daily from 11:15 at the Tiger Temple. Find out what it's like to interact with these fabulous felines every day. The expert keepers will share everything you've wanted to know about these beautiful endangered cats while the tigers themselves watch on. You can even help conserve Sumatran tigers through Wildlife Warriors. Get there early as seating is limited.

12:00 Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors Show

Are you ready for some serious wildlife action? The keepers and their amazing animals will take you on a slithering, swooping, jaw-snapping adventure of epic proportions!

Every day in the Crocoseum the Zoo is taking on the world's conservation issues and protecting the animal kingdom, and they want you to join the army of Wildlife Warriors!

Come on a journey of discovery and learn all about the incredible world of giant snakes, colourful, soaring birds and Steve Irwin's favourite animal in the entire world - the impressive saltwater crocodile. Woo-hoo!

13:30 Koalas LIVE

Do you know why koalas can sleep up to 20 hours a day? Did you know they're not actually bears? Come and admire the best known Aussie icon, and learn all about the amazing habits of this unique and adorable species, including how you can help them in the wild.

14:00 Tiger Show

Watch one of Australia Zoo's majestic Sumatran or Bengal tigers demonstrate their natural behaviours in the popular Tiger Show from 2:00pm daily at Tiger Temple. Observe tigers showcasing their impressive speed, agility and confidence both on land, and in water. That's right - unlike the domestic cat, these big cats LOVE water - you might even be lucky enough to see them swimming in the only underwater viewing area for tigers in the Southern Hemisphere! The expert tiger keepers will teach you everything you've wanted to know about this beautiful and critically endangered species, including the simple ways that you can help bring them back from the brink of extinction. Get there early as seating is limited.

14:30 Afternoon Crocs LIVE! Australia Zoo's croc experts can't wait to share with you all their knowledge on this incredible reptile! Join the team for a special afternoon croc feeding session that includes question time, so you can learn exactly why the keeps think 'Crocs Rule'! The location is different each day, so please listen for announcements or ask at the Information Desk to find out which croc is being fed on that afternoon.
15:00 Birds of Prey LIVE

Birds of prey are an impressive sight to see, and at Australia Zoo you can marvel at a wedge-tailed eagle, powerful owl, barking owl and blue-winged kookaburra in all their glory. Birds of Prey demonstration is on at 15:00 daily. It's a great opportunity to admire these beautiful birds up close, learn from the passionate keepers and appreciate how spectacular these animals really are. Australian birds of prey have amazing ways of finding, capturing and eating their prey - come and learn all about it!
