| How to get there | ● By Car Holt St Wharf located approximately 8km south of Brisbane Airport, takes about 10 minutes; approximately 11km north of Brisbane CBD, takes about 20 minutes; approximately 82km north of Surfers Paradise, takes about 1 hour 10 minutes. - From Brisbane City and Western suburbs: Follow Kingsford Smith Drive outbound, and then approximately 2 kilometres past the Gateway Motorway overpass turn right into Holt Street and follow to the end until your arrive at Holt Street Wharf, Pinkenba. - From Gold Coast and Southern suburbs: Follow the Gateway Motorway (toll road) and take exit 106 to Kingsford Smith Drive. Turn right under the overpass and head along Kingsford Smith Drive for approximately 1 kilometre. Turn right into Holt Street and follow to the end where you'll arrive at the Wharf. - An open air car park is available, parking fees apply ● By Public Transport Unfortunately there is no direct public transport available. Most visitors drive or arrive on a coach tour. If you do not drive, please book one of the day tours that visits Tangalooma Island. |

Moreton Island
Moreton Island is the third largest sand island in the world and located only 40 kilometres north-east of Brisbane. The Island consists entirely of sand, apart from a small area of sandstone and rhyolite at Cape Moreton, which has built up over the past 400,000 years. It is also home to the highest coastal sand dune in the world, Mount Tempest, which at 285 metres provides 360 degrees of breath-taking views. Moreton Island is one of the least polluted and least disturbed coastal environments along the Queensland/New South Wales coast.

Wild Dolphin Feeding
The highlight of any visit to Tangalooma is the opportunity to hand feed one of the wild bottlenose dolphins that visit the shores each evening at sunset. There is a large family of these playful dolphins that visit regularly, each with their own distinctive and unique personalities.
Snorkelling the Wrecks
The Wrecks are home to a large variety of different species of reef fish, coral formations and marine life. The Snorkel Tour is a much safer experience as you are taken to the wrecks by boat - so there is no need to battle the currents and swim there yourself. This tour includes a guide and all snorkel equipment included (wetsuits, fins/flippers, mask, snorkel, life jacket, pool noodles and prescription masks).

The highlight of any visit to Tangalooma is the opportunity to hand feed one of the wild bottlenose dolphins that visit the shores each evening at sunset. There is a large family of these playful dolphins that visit regularly, each with their own distinctive and unique personalities.
To feed the dolphins, you’ll need to walk into at least knee-deep water. So wear shorts or swimwear, or hire Waders (waterproof overalls) from the stand in front of the Eco Centre. Any sunscreens, insect repellents, moisturisers or other lotions must be thoroughly washed off beforehand. No personal items (including umbrellas and ponchos etc.) should be brought into the water.

Located just north of the Tangalooma Island Resort are the Tangalooma Wrecks, a cluster of ships scuttled by the Queensland Government between 1963 and 1984 to provide safe anchorage spot for recreational boat owners on the eastern side of Moreton Bay. Coral is now starting to form in and around the wrecks, providing a haven for over 100 species of fish and sometimes even dolphins, wobbegongs and dugongs.

Ever wanted to learn more about this iconic Australian bird and meet one (or several!) up close? Join Eco Rangers from the The Eco Centre for the daily Kookaburra feeding located just outside the Deep Blue Apartments.
Every morning Tangalooma's Eco Rangers feed the Australian Pelicans, the largest of the pelican species from the Tangalooma Jetty. During the feed, Tangalooma Rangers will tell you more about these charismatic birds, the cheeky Pied Cormorants and any other sea and shore birds that grace the shores of Tangalooma.
